Every single one of us need alone moments in this fast pace and crazy driven world to keep sanity in check. We call it reality but what’s real?
Chris, our German boy has his moment every day after dinner. He lies down on the wooden pier with a “special” cigarette as his faithful companion and in complete darkness, watches the night bats fly around the starry sky in random directions.
Gaby takes one of the motor boats and heads out to a bar on the riverbank. She sits down, orders one beer. Necks it down and orders another. A couple hours after she returns to the Finca with a huge grin across her face. Happiness or drunkenness?
Little Martin, goes up to a clearing up in the jungle. His father promised a football pitch in this spot. Martin grabs a wood stick and pretends he’s a Japanese swordsman. He’s content.
Oria. Surrounded by lots of people, she can make herself invisible by grabbing a book and witnessing its letters turn into words, into phrases, then into pages. Sometimes she draws Japanese anime faces. She probably misses her school girlfriends or people from her age group. What dreams lurk inside her 14 years old mind?
Even a 9 years old boy like Enzo needs to be alone sometimes. The Finca is a natural hideout from his school duties and homework. Nevertheless, there’s a 4 storey high tower being built in the middle of the swamp. Enzo grabs a chocolate bar, climbs the tower all the way to the top and oversees the ground creatures going about their day, whilst devouring the sugary snack.
Me? Well… this whole trip is my escape. I am alone and I like it. Years ago, when I lived in London, UK, my fav spot for being alone was Comic stores. There would always be lots of people wandering around the comic books but not a single person would make eye contact with you. With a single page turn, I would be transported to imaginary worlds where anything is possible and dreams become real. I don’t have any comic store around me no more; instead I have a whole continent, with green forests, magical cities, superstitious tribes, white sandy beaches, ancient gods, surreal food and amazing people all making my dreams reality. Am I alone?
Ciao 4 now
