LIVINGSTON, GUATEMALA

Last few hours in Punta Gorda, Belize. After paying our exit tax (37.50 bz) we boarded the water taxi (40 Bz) to Guatemala with the San Francisco couple (Michael and Vanessa) as well as several Americans and a English guy.

1 hour later we arrive in Livingston, Guatemala. Some local Garafunda guys greet us and took us first to the emigration office followed to their recommended hostel: Africa Place (40 Quetzales per person).

Our group took a bus to the Playa Quehueche, where we chilled out all afternoon at this lovely two floor wooden pier. Michael had an iPod with speakers so that gave us some music. I had a scrumptious fruit salad with granola and honey.

On the way back it started thundering heavily so we rushed to the taxi pick up point. Noticed that the village had no lights at all. An electric powercut perhaps? When we returned to the hostel, the blackout was confirmed so the owner handed us some candles.

We all sat around a table with two English girls, Emma and Tess. Got a bottle of rum & juice. The electricity was back at 10:30 pm but by then I was too tired to function.

Some people went to the local bar but that was also closed so they were back at the hostel soon enough.

Ciao 4 now

  1. Nice post. Sounds like a wonderful way to spend, rainy afternoons in a hot environment, with a bottle of rum & juice, candlelit.

I've been following your blog since Miami. You really have a great eye for detail.
